| Volleyball shoes can be found at both online and at retailers and with the growth of the sport of volleyball, all of the top athletic shoe companies are making volleyball shoes for men and women. Asics, Mizuno, and Kaepa are best known for their volleyball shoes but Nike and Adidas have also started selling volleyball shoes.
Volleyball shoes provide both lateral support as well as cushioning which is needed to support a player from the constant jumping during a volleyball game. Make sure to not mistake a court shoe, which is used for tennis or racquetball for volleyball. These shoes only provide lateral support and not the needed cushioning for active jumping.
Some volleyball players prefer to wear low top basketball shoes, cross-trainers, or running shoes since they provide the cushioning and lateral support. When looking at either cross-trainers or running shoes, make sure their soles are wide and not narrow and stay away from Nike Shox since their heel support is not adequate for volleyball.
